Biography

Sereatha Brooks Blackwell P’17, P’23, joined the board in 2022. She has over 20 years experience as a K-5 educator. Her work includes serving multilingual, racial, and culturally diverse students and their families. She is skilled in building supportive classroom communities with a focus on building confidence, student voice, resiliency, and work partnerships within a culture of excellence, equity, and fun. She shares her love of teaching and learning as a teacher leader and mentor and is excited to offer her perspective with the L-Dub community. Sereatha is a native Seattlelite – she was born and raised in Seattle’s Central District where her parents still reside. She holds a BA in Communication Theory and Theater from the University of San Francisco, her teaching credential from San Francisco State University and earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University.
