Dr. Conner came to us from Seattle Academy (SAAS), where she served for 20 years as an educator and an administrator. Dr. Conner held many roles at SAAS, including Assistant Head of School, Head of Upper School, Dean of Students, Director of Diversity, coordinator, and teacher. Since 2015, Dr. Conner has also been an adjunct faculty member at Antioch University in both the bachelor’s and master’s programs, with emphasis on diversity, power, and privilege as well as the foundations of American education.  

In addition to her strong background in independent school leadership, academic principles, and curriculum development, Dr. Conner also has extensive experience with the nuances of nonprofit leadership and networks. Dr. Conner is an Emerging Leaders Mentor for the Northwest Association of Independent Schools and the Board President of Seattle Arts and Lectures. She is a past board member of the Spruce Street School, and she has worked with several nonprofits in our community including Seattle Foundation, Rainier Scholars, Richard Hugo House, and Orion Youth Center. Conner earned a BA in English Literature from the University of Kansas and she earned her MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Washington.
