Getting Started: Set up your student's home access

If you do not have a computer at home, please contact help@lwgms.org and we can arrange a device for your student to check out.

The following video will walk you through the correct method of logging your student into the Chrome web browser at home. The steps are:

  1. Download Chrome (we require the free Chrome web browser as it will correctly sync with your student's account to provide managed bookmarks, extensions, and security settings).
  2. Use the profile switcher in Chrome to add a new user profile.
  3. Log in to your student's account and "link data" when prompted.
  4. Change the theme of either your original or student profile to help differentiate which window is logged in to your student's account.

Do I need to buy a computer for my student to use at school?

No. We provide general use Chromebooks for all students and have a Mac lab for specific classes. A computer at home is a great asset, however (see details above about how to correctly log in to Chrome at home). Mac, Windows, Linux or Chromebooks are all acceptable platforms for accessing your student's LWGMS account.

How do I view my student's progress?

Daily work is tracked in Google Classroom. All parents and guardians will, this year, receive a weekly summary email of student classwork (both upcoming and completed). If you wish to see Google Classroom in action, you may access it via your student's account.

Our gradebook is managed in a service called Alma. This is accessed at https://lwgms.getalma.com . All parents will have login information sent to them via email. Parents and students each have separate logins for this service.
