It's official and the cat is out of the bag: After initiating this project in 2016, LWGMS and Giddens School searched for like-minded organizations to share the block, and sold a parcel of the land to JazzED and Capitol Hill Housing who have announced their partnership to develop space adjacent to the schools for music education and affordable housing. While these four entities will all continue to operate independently, they share a commitment to social justice and activating a community with attention to access, equity, and empowerment.

Awesome Alumnae Alert!
We just heard that two members of the Class of 2016 – Corina C. and Molly D. – were accepted to the University of Washington Robinson Academy, and will start as COLLEGE freshmen this coming fall when they would normally be entering their junior years at high school! 🎓💪🏽 The UW Academy, created in 2001 in partnership with the University of Washington Honors Program, is an early university admission opportunity for 10th grade students in Washington State. Every year, a small cohort of up to thirty-five academically advanced and highly motivated students are admitted to the UW Academy. Students apply to the program during their 10th grade year, and if accepted, withdraw from high school at the end of 10th grade to enroll as freshmen at the University of Washington.
More about the UW Academy: “Admission to the UW Academy is competitive. We look for students who love to learn, who actively seek out academic challenges, and who have the personal maturity to succeed in the university two years early. While there is no minimum high school GPA or test score required to apply to the UW Academy, admitted students tend to have excellent test scores and grades. For the incoming class of 2017, the average ACT composite was 32 (range of 25-35), the average SAT score (on the new system) was 1455 (range 1230-1550), and the average high school GPA was 3.96 (range of 3.75-4.00). That said, the Academy employs a holistic admissions model. This means that we carefully evaluate all elements of an applicant’s admission file (not just grades and tests) to determine whether the Academy and the UW are the right educational match for him or her. Unique educational experiences, service, goals, or other non-academic strengths will also be considered in our admissions decisions.” More L-Dub grads going above and beyond! Congrats to you both! 🌈❤️💪🏽
The last day of school at L-Dub is a day full of emptying lockers, cleaning (and making a crazy mess of the community room), yearbook signing, wishing our 8th grade sisters well into the world of high school, and the moving up tunnel…once they go through the tunnel, they’ve moved on to their next adventure! Have a great summer, all! 🌈
Hats off to the Class of 2018! 🎓 We know that each of you is bound to leave your mark on this world, just as you have your school. We are proud of all you have accomplished and carry with you to your high school experiences. Know, though, that you will always have a home at L-Dub (whatever the location)! ❤️Check out all the photos from your graduation…link in bio.
The Yearbook Team got a sneak peek of their book today! 👀
What an Art Show...the best ever way to end a year of creativity, exploration, and expression. 🌈❤️💪🏽
